Singapore Airlines Suites
After a week in India it was time to keep the itinerary afloat and go to our next destination.
I build the whole thing just for this leg, and you’ll see why.
DEL-SIN
So why Delhi? you’d ask, making the long story short, Singapore airlines has one of the best first class in the world, a suite that has a seat and a bed separately, and if you’re traveling with someone you can “merge” them into a private room. it’s a crazy product, on the likes of Etihad’s apartment and better IMO than Emirates or Qatar First class products.
The thing is that operate this plane is expensive and airlines have been getting rid of the Jumbo, Airbus ended the production line back in 2021, having fewer and fewer carriers for us to try the product, and even more difficult a true first class.
having said that, I went to SQ site to check the routes they currently serve with the A380:
SQ A380 current routes
London and Frankfurt where ideal but impossible to grab any rewards seats, Shanghai and Sydney made me have to deal with visas -which I hate- and Hong Kong was too short, so I was left with Mumbai and Delhi, the later having a lot of availability to tryout the product.
I was traveling with the gang and we were all in for a treat.
Singapore airlines KrisFlyer reward program does something called KrisFlyer Spontaneous Escapes. basically every month they take some routes and put them up to 30% off the usual cost, lucky us the route from Delhi to Singapore was included (in Business not first) but it was a really good price as you can see above.
Spontaneous Escapes, SQ, Business class was discounted up to 30.100 miles. but I had to pay the full price for first class.
you can score the same route for around 54.000 points one way, but the day that had those fares didn’t have the promo for business, at the end of the day it was cheaper to pay the full price for first and the discounted business (I’m missing my brother’s ticket there so it was 4 seats in business and 1 in First).
cash price for the same route was $651 for business and $2676 for first, so we made $0.02 on business and $0.027 on first for our redemption respectively, it wasn’t the heights or the best I’ve made but I had a good stash of points and didn’t want to spend that amount of cash ($5280 total vs 218.400 points)
I’ve been doing the points & miles game for a long time and consider myself an expert, having redeem millions of points across different programs/airlines trying a whole range of products/airplanes and doing everything from economy to first, this was still on my bucket list, and what a better way to kick it out of the bucket than with my closest friends and one of my brothers.
Check-in at DEL airport
Usually when flying this sort of products I recommend to do it from their hub, so for SQ would’ve been SIN changi airport where the experience starts the moment you step in, but getting availability from SIN to anywhere with the A380 was nearly impossible so I settled in to fly to SIN from DEL
The ground experience was nothing compared to if we were flying out of Singapore, nonetheless the check-in was seamless, and they had a dedicated line for suites.
this time I was flying with one of my closest friends and partner, and what better person to do this bucket list trip than him, so when we checked-in we asked for a cash upgrade from Business to First.
Cash upgrade from business to first.
we Had access to Encalm Prive lounge, you can see the walkthrough here

it was a big lounge, good food, nothing special.
AeroLOPA seatmap, second floor of Singapore Airlines A380
Second floor of the A380 is premium, most of it business class and just 6 first class suites, from which 2 of them can merge into the larger room.
Our big bird was ready, so was I.
SQ suite first impression.
So here it was, just as the million videos and photos I’ve seen on the internet, it was finally time to ride this baby, and tbh, it was astonishing.
it was MASSIVE!, the seat has its own controllers to move it, get the foot rest up and recline it, change positions to watch tv or to dine. it was surreal. they have some orchids which were beautiful, some B&O noise cancelling headphones, a 32 inch tv, a bed, and the door to have a fully private experience.
as kevin and I were flying together, the flight attendants promptly came to ask if we wanted to have the suites joined, -which was the idea since the beginning, so yeah-. when they open up the space it feels like a private jet.
They give pajamas, so we change into those before departing to be more comfortable, that meant I trip to one of the biggest bathrooms in the skies, a separate seating area from the toilet, big mirrors, and Lelabo products for your enjoyment.
It was dinner time, and I’d never skip a caviar service, I honestly, -mostly, if not only- have it when I’m flaying first class, I had the crusted fish and finished with a chocolate cake with ice cream, everything was delicious.
They have a full turndown service, so the flight attendants would come and make the bed for you
full bed in the shared suite.
We even had one of our friends joined us for a while to hangout and give us a full report from Business class.
Business configuration is 1-2-1 with big seats that are full lie-flat beds as well, service is not as personalized, there’s no Pjs or caviar, but honestly, is a great product for a quick trip and a good nap.
Then before we knew it we where approaching Singapore and had to go on with our lives, it was a good 6 hours in one of the best first class products in the skies, it can be a little pricy, but it’s defiantly worth it to have it under your belt.
